mail art

I am a member of Nervousness, an online community of artists who exchange works of art and LMAO's (Land Mail Art Objects) through the mail.

Recently, I learned about ATC's (artist trading cards) and I love making and exchanging them. Here is the main ATC web site. There are also many online trading groups that you can join. I think its a great way to meet people from all over the world and share art.

The coolest thing about ATC's is that there is only one rule--the card must measure 2.5 x 3.5 inches--OK two rules. You've got to use a sturdy card stock. Any medium is fine: pen and ink, pencil, colored pencil, paint, collage, whatever you like. Be sure to sign and date the back and include your email address so people can contact you. The cards are traded one for one and they can be stored in clear plastic sleeves made for baseball card collections.

Here are some more hand stitched ATC's. The heart & hand and the frog are made with my hand carved stamps.

These are ATC's that involve hand stitching in some way:

These are my new tessalation ATC's. There will be more of these to come.

These are done with colored pencil.
